Back Pain – It Can Become A Real Pain in The Butt, Can’t It?
Have you ever experienced back pain? Maybe it was a quick episode after working in the garden for too long, or maybe you wake up with it every day? It might be a local, pinpoint spot, or it might go from your neck all the way to your bottom. The fact is, nearly 80% of people (that’s 4 out of every 5 people) will experience back pain in their lives!
It is estimated that Americans will spend $50 billion on back pain remedies this year, most of that money going towards over-the-counter medicines. Unfortunately, these medicines are typically used to cover up pain, rather than address the problem. (Want to read the study? Click Here).
Most back pain problems start at the spine, due to spinal alignment, mobility, muscle function, and posture. While back pain can be caused by organ and/or disease-related problems like fractures or infections, much of the population does not have chronic back pain stemming from these concerns.
Chiropractors look to address the root of back pain concerns, by looking to the spine for areas of interference. This interference, when left to fester, can cause pain and discomfort in the back and other areas of the body. Unfortunately, pain is one of the last symptoms to appear with back concerns, and on top of that, only 18% of the nerve fibers in our bodies have pain receptors in them! That’s a lot of space for nervous system interference to go unnoticed.
Susan’s Success Story:
Before I started coming to Dr. Mulhall-Wright, D.C. I was receiving regular Steroid shots, on six medication and in great overall pain. I could hardly walk, nor could I sit comfortably. I could only stand for very brief moments of time. I carried a gel-pack and pillow almost everywhere I went. At first I was very skeptical, and considered my chiropractor’s method of treatment very weird. I could not see how her strange, gentle style of adjustment could accomplish anything, however the results I have received while being under care have made a true believer out of me. You do truly have to experience it to believe it.
I can honestly say that “I’ve come a long way, Baby!” Now, I can walk, sit, and stand without pain. I am off four of the six medication and am no longer receiving steroid shots. I feel 100% better emotionally, physically, and mentally. My initial x-rays made my spine look like an out of shape accordion. A few months afterward Dr. Mulhall-Wright, DC did a follow up x-ray. I was amazed at the difference between the two. No wonder I felt better, it looked a whole lot better!
I am happy to say that I have noticed a 100% turn around in my pain and stress level. When you are in so much pain you stay stressed out all the time. Now I’m not because my pain level has decreased tremendously. Before, the pain was so bad, I did not feel like doing anything; I became so sedentary. Now I feel like doing more and am going to work on becoming more active.
Dr. Mulhall-Wright, DC explained to me the difference between symptom chiropractic care and functional chiropractic care. Now that I’m out of acute pain, I see Dr. Mulhall-Wright monthly to keep my nervous system healthy and help avoid any injuries. I am a whole new person. Dr. Mulhall-Wright, DC literally gave me my life back. Thanks Dr. Mulhall-Wright, D.C.!
A comparative study showed that of people who received a chiropractic adjustment for their back pain, 73% saw a reduction of their pain, compared to only 17% who saw a reduction with medical care.
While we love making people feel better through reductions of their pain, we want people to come in before they have any signs or symptoms, so that they don’t have to experience pain in the first place.
Phone the office today for a free phone consultation, or to schedule your initial exam! If you are not close to our office, we would also be happy to refer you to a chiropractor we love in your area!
